The MARLIN CLUB is not being included in the "MASTER PLAN", and the PORTS push to develop Shelter Island, and we are faced with a situation.
For all who don't know our plight, we have the flimsiest lease the PORT could write. We will be drafting a "comment letter" to submit to the PORT by the 31st of this month. That is the deadline for input for our area. It should include every reason we can come up with for why the CLUBHOUSE should stay where it is, and why the club should be included in the "MASTER PLAN".
We would like to get something put together this week that will include key words woven into our history. Past, Present, and Future. Without this letter, we have no future. All it does is keep us from getting axed because of lack of comment. It buys us some time before we end up as an agenda item at a future meeting. I'm hoping we can organize, mobilize, and unify all clubs and other PORT tenants in this area who may also face an unknown future.
As your PRESIDENT, have confidence I will do all I can to save this institution. We will not be going down without a FIGHT!
Anyone with writing skills or PORT connections please speak up.
